Wells duo triumph in Cyder Cup

A field of 172 players took part in the Cyder Cup 2-day event held at Farrington Park GC and Wells GC. The first day at Farrington Park started in atrocious conditions and whilst it did dry up, the wind increased in strength.

Peter Walker (19.1) & Simon Jackson (8.8) led the first day with 45 points, making the most of being late starters and getting the better weather. Chris & Michelle Young (Farrington Park) had an excellent 43 points.  David Allardyce & Adrian Cronin (Farrington Park) and Jack Hayes & Kevin Keene (Mendip) both had 42 points.

The second day at Wells produced a perfect summers day for golf.  The early starters, Freddie (5.5) & Alfie Lovell (20.5) perfectly dovetailed to produce an under par better ball with 52 points.  A great improvement on their first day’s score.  Very well played.

Chris & Michelle Young added 40 points at Wells for a total of 83 points and the top members prize.

Jack Hayes & Kevin Keene shot a very good 40 points to leave a total of 82 points and the top visitor’s prize.

Home advantage ruled the day as Peter Walker and Simon Jackson, sitting with the overnight lead, improved on their first day’s score with a tremendous round of 50 points, giving them a grand total of 95 points and the clear winners of the 2023 Cyder Cup.
