Wells GC Seniors into Seniors Bowl Finals.

Wells GC Seniors` team recently played Burnham and Berrow GC in the semi final of the Seniors` Somerset Bowl.

The match was played at Worlebury GC on a hot summers day. As everywhere the course was burnt up and fairways were fiery making for interesting bounces.

The greens were however excellent and allowed one to hit shots that stopped on the green if it was pitched onto directly.

First out Andy Green and Ian Burr , paired together for the first time due to illness, had a comfortable win 5&4.

Second out Jim Lunt and Stuart Austwick had a terrific tussle winning one up.

Bill McCollum and Duncan Gowan strolled to a 5&4 victory.

Nick Carter and Nick Wilson had a real topsy turvy match and despite going into the 16th 3 down salvaged a half.

Glen Crocker and Mike Metcalfe , despite giving 5 shots, coasted to a 4&3 win to complete the match.

Thus Wells won , by the unexpectedly large margin , of four and one half to one half.

Wells now meet Minehead GC in the final - a team they have never played before in the Seniors` Bowl.

The match is at Long Sutton GC on Friday 12th September with a first tee time of 1.40 pm.

Wells are seeking to achieve a fifth Bowl win in 15 years.
